I have been looking all over the place trying to find some basics that you can actually afford the keep in your home or car in case you ever need some quick survival supplies. Here are some things I thought were the most useful!
3 Day Survival Kits (food, water, shelter, etc)
One person basic bag (to slip in your trunk or an emergency backpack)
was $12.50 NOW $6.95 (There is also a bigger discount for the more you buy!)
1 Person Basic Bagged Survival Kit - SK1BG
A more detailed one person kit (comes in a plastic lunch box style case). Includes more things like a first aide kit, gloves, dust mask, etc.
was $39.50 NOW $18.95 (again, the more you buy, the cheaper they are)
1 Person Economy Lunchbox Survival Kit - SK1EE
An even more detailed one person kit
was $52 NOW $28
1 Person Standard Survival Kit - SK1SS
What I would suggest doing, is buying 1 each of the two larger kits for Mom and Dad, they buying the smallest ones for each other kids. Put each kit in each person's "emergency backpack" with an extra outfit, jacket, other snacks, juice boxes, or whatever. So they are kind of a "grab-n-go" thing.
This site also has kits for dogs and cats too!! Also, don't forget the babies! Extra bottles, formula, diapers, and wipes!!
I'm going to add more deals as I find them and I encourage all of you to do the same!

Here is a decent 4 person backpack (to make things a little more simple) You could store this in your car - was $139 NOW $82
4 Person Deluxe Backpack Survival Kit - SKBP4DD
This site really does have great prices compared to the other emergency preparedness sites I have seen!

Here is a place that sells Freeze Dried Food.
Mountain House® Freeze Dried Foods
You can also check your Army/Navy Surplus stores to see if they have any of the MRE's that the military uses while in the field and in combat.

Here is a portable stove that takes small cans of fuel. These are great for camping and would also be great if you had to cook with no power. They can be used inside for short amounts of time.

Thanks for all the links, I was just thinking about posting needing a deal for an emergency radio. I've been stockpiling food and other necessities for months for hurricane season.

I'm going to sticky this for the next couple months until the bulk of hurricane season is over. That way anyone can quickly refer to it!

I've been stockpiling water and canned goods for just such an emergency. A great place to get these things is Walmart, a gallon of Great Value Spring water is only about .75.
