I use Amazon on a monthly basis...thanks for the tip! I have 3 kids, on a tight budget, and find it difficult to buy things without going overboard. Now I know what to do with atleast one site. Thanks!

Thank you so much, Jamie, for passing along the information about the Amazon price guarantee and the tracking sites! I had recently purchased several books and found, because of you, that 2 of them had gone down in price. Now, thanks to you, I am getting a refund. Also, thank you for your detailed instructions; I referred to them several times.

Hi. I'm a long-time lurker. I just want to bring to your attention that Amazon is no longer doing price adjustments:

"Thank you for contacting us to take advantage of our Post-Order Price Guarantee. I've confirmed that we now offer a greater discount on xxxxx than at the time you placed your order.

Since your purchase shipped within the past 30 days, I've requested a refund of $x.xx to the original payment method used for your order. This amount reflects the difference between the price you were originally charged for the item and the current price offered by Amazon.com. This refund should be processed in the next few days.

Only orders placed before September 1, 2008 are eligible for a price difference refund under the Post-Order Price Guarantee policy. As of September 1, 2008 we are no longer offering discounts if prices change on our website after you make a purchase."

Amazon.com: Customer Discussions: No more post-order price matching!?!?

Sorry to bump such an old thread, but here's a method I use.

And its a BIG bummer that there is no more refunds

With zoolert, you can track any amazon.com product. You set the price you want and it will tell you when it hits that price and when its in stock. Pretty cool!

There's a few different ways to get alerted too. You can get email alerts, rss or just monitor the custom page it makes.

Amazon Price Tracker - Automated availability and alerts for price drop - Always free, Always fast!

I do a similar thing w/Amazon. I put it in my cart and just watch my cart daily (or a couple of times a day, if there's something I know is volatile and really want it). When I check the cart later, I'll get a notice of a price change. My problem with Zoolert is that it's not up to the minute, or even daily, in my experience. That doesn't matter so much w/ToysRUs or other companies it does it with, but it does matter w/Amazon.

Honestly, I'm not sure why you say it isn't up to the minute... or especially daily!

I have had VERY good experience with zoolert.

zoolert.com Amazon.com price tracker

I think the amazon tracker checks every 20 mins or something like that.

Are you sure you are talking about the same website?

Also, all the trackers unlike other ones out there for things like wii fit actually show real prices....

You must be thinking of perhaps wiialerts?

Nope. I'm afraid I've I've never heard of wiialerts. It was zooalert I tried out. I think I read about it on some other board.

Sorry, just sharing my experience. I believe it was around Thanksgiving or Christmas that I'd tried it. Perhaps there were computer issues each time I gave it a try?
