UPDATE
Please review post on 9/3/08 for updated policy. Amazon is discontinuing their refund policy.
Perhaps this could be made a *STICKY* in this section?
Do you all know about Amazon's 30-day price guarantee? I didn't see it mentioned here and thought I might let you all know if you don't already. It's not promoted on the Amazon website at all, but they sure do honor it. I've saved a lot of money this way!
It works like this, if an item that you bought from Amazon goes down in price within 30 days of purchase, they'll refund you the difference! There are a few ways to track your purchases.
1. Use the
Refund Please website. No signing up for an account or anything. Just enter the product's ASIN or ISBN, price you paid, the date you bought it and your email address. Refund Please will send you an email if the price of that item goes down. You can track as many items as you want!
2. Use the
Frozen Warrior website. I tend to use the Refund Please website more often, but if I think of it, I'll enter my info into both to increase my chances of being notified of a price drop. You only need to enter the ISBN/ASIN and your email address for this website. You can track as many items as you want here, too.
3. After you make a purchase, go back and add that item (or those items) back to your cart and click "save for later." Each time you log in and look at your cart a notification comes up at the very top of the page (yellow box with red writing) telling you of both price increases and drops on the items in your cart or saved for later.
Once you've been notified that there's been a price drop you can follow the link in the Refund Please or Frozen Warrior email that you receive. If you find the price drop on your own or through the "cart" method of tracking, you can click on "Help" at the bottom of any Amazon page. Then click on the "Customer Service" button off to the right. It should bring up your latest purchase. Use the "back" arrow to the left of "more orders." Find the applicable order then click on "Email" under the "Contact Us" header off to the right. Put in the order number you're inquiring about or click on the "Choose Order & Items" button to find the right item/order. From the drop-down menu, select "Returns & Refunds." In the message box, just write a short note about paying $XX.XX and seeing that the price is now only $X.XX. I usually write something like, "I am requesting a refund of $5.80 for the difference in price from when I purchased the item to it's current price." Hit the send button.
I usually have my refund within a couple of hours.
Happy Saving!
