I bought a Compaq F730 at Office Depot for $449.
After watching prices for a few months, we found that Wal Mart, Best Buy, Office Depot, Staples and Dell regularly put a laptop on sale for $400-$500.
We did go to Wal Mart when they first opened a couple of times when they had advertised laptop specials, but they were already sold out (they are notorious for only have a few or even none of advertised things)
We also went to Best Buy to buy one at 8am on the first day of a sale. They said they had none left and then said they had one that a customer had changed their mind and had a $100 preloaded software in it (I discovered this is also a common Best Buy ploy)
The following week Office Depot had one on sale, and my husband went down the first morning and had missed the ones on hand. The salesman gave him his card and told him to phone Monday to see if more had come in. None had, and he said to call Wednesday when the next deliveries would be and there was one and the fellow held it long enough to get there. It is a dual core and has a better graphics than the one we couldn't get at Worst Buy.
