Yes, this is a real offer, even with the $15 shipping fee (which is high, but hey, it's a $70 machine). However, be prepared you may have issues. My first pot leaked. They gave me a song and dance that they took over the promo program for Sara Lee, so I'm surprised this program is still being offered, as they had problems with servicing it. My first one came already opened, and the label on the box showed it came from their RMA department - it had already been returned! So, yes, it leaked. They sent a UPS tag to send it back, but I had to take it to a UPS store myself, as they wouldn't do the pickup service. By the way, I made three attempts at taking care of this via email, and never received a response. I'd asked them if this promo program was their way of moving out opened/returned product.
The second one didn't come in an overpack brown box, but in the retail box. The box was damaged. Once again, things looked open. I called them back, explaining the condition. As with the first shipment, fingerprints were all over the outside of the pot.
So....I got on the phone again. They said they'd send me a new tag, and send me a new pot after receiving this one. I explained how I'd waited so long as it was, could they do a cross shipment? Nope. I asked if she would escalate it to a manager, since this went on for so long. She said she would. Three days went by, and still no UPS tag was received. I called again, and was assured the process was in place and I'd receive the tag to return it.
Out of the blue, I received the new pot about a week and a half later. Uh oh...retail box again, showing dirt and slight damage. Packaging inside was open. At this point, I was happy they didn't wait for the shipment, but was ready to just give up and tell them to pick them all up.
The unit is identical to those sold at the retail level, so after checking with someone in management, I returned the pot through a retail store and got a new, packaged one.
So, it's a real program, just don't be surprised if it doesn't work as smoothly. And when you use it for the first time, be sure it's in a place that won't be damaged if it leaks.
