Shutterfly has a really cute line of custom invitations. I'm not sure what your budget is, however.

www.vistaprint.com has great, and cheap invitations, announcements etc. I ordered some for my DH's 40th b-day party and they were a very nice quality and shipped quickly!

Why don't you make them yourself and print them out? I designed my own wedding invite and printed them on card stock. You can also find lots of free templates for birthday invites.

You can definately try to just buy some and print them out on your home printer...I do all my kids invitations, party invitations etc this way. There is a small card store near me that stocks a lot of really nice invitations that I use - I esp like the Caspari brand. I've also found a lot at Target, they go on sale during the year and I just keep my eyes peeled on the endcaps for deep discounts. I got some really cute holiday invites just recently for less than $1 a package.

The ones that work best for me just say, for example, "Time:" with no line. I also sometimes just use invitation cards that just have a border, basically blank card stock, and I fill in all the information.

I just mess around with the margins in microsoft word, get it all set up and just print the invite information on paper until it's lined up the way I like (hold the invite card up behind the paper to see if the text is lined up). After I get it set up the way I like, I send the card stock invites through my printer. You can use color ink if you have a color printer. They come out really cute and are easier than you think.

Good luck!

For my son's 1st bday I created postcards on Picaboo using a favorite photo, tinted black and white, on the front. On the back we wrote a short poem about our guy and included a few lines with party info.
The postcards were the least expensive option and we saved on postage as well.
Our party was only family so we didn't need anything fancy or formal, but everyone liked our original invitations (some even framed it). We did the thank yous in a similiar manner.

I've created other postcards on snapfish and it also worked well (slightly more expensive I believe) and I am sure it would be the same for the other sites. There are great coupon codes in the forum for most of those sites.

Now my son is turning 2 and we're having a much smaller party .. so evite it is!

Good luck!
