This started as a volunteer position with our local Early Learning Advisory Council, but the "position" technically will no longer exist next year, so I will just start doing it on my own. The social workers that do home visit often see alot of unmet needs. The social worker then would email me and ask if I knew anyone that had a "crib" to donate. I then send out emails to everyone I know and ask if they have one and could they forward this email to anyone who might be interested. If a social worker is emailing me then I know they have exhausted all the resources they have available. This is all doanted items and almost always have we been able to help.
I have some friends who now call me first if they have stuff to donate. I usually take it from them and then send out emails to social workers telling them I have such and such items and do they need any of it. If I get no takers then I donate to various places but always places where the people receiving the items are getting them for free.

I really like this one a lot! I've always just talked to people here and there with things like this, but never thought of going right to the social workers.
