Not enough leftovers to feed your hungry husband for lunch tomorrow? What about making a TV dinner for a single elderly neighbor, a sick friend or grandparent?
We keep a few microwavable divider plates around for just this purpose. Fill the plate with your leftovers. Add a piece of bread or dessert if you like. We sometimes even have the kids color a nice picture or add a notecard. Then, we deliver the meal to a neighbor or friend that we know doesn't get to enjoy homecooked dinners very often.
All it costs us was a little time (and maybe a few cents for the food), but it sure puts a smile on someone else's face - at least twice! They enjoy getting the visit when we drop off the meal. They enjoy the meal. And, if we stop by a few days later to pick up our dish, they enjoy that visit, too!
