A couple of weeks ago I ended up taking on of my daughters to the after hours clinic. When We go to the admitting area there was a woman with to little kids trying to see a doctor but was told that unless it was an emergency that they wouldn't let the kids see the doctor because she didn't have enough money to pay the copays and she already had a bill from some other visits. We are fortunate that we don't have a copay. I finishied signing the necessary paper work and handed it to another admitting person. I then took a $20 from my purse and gave it to the mother and asked if this would be enough for her kids to be seen by the doctor. She said no but she would now have enough to cover the copays and with tears in her eyes she thanked me and asked how she could repay me. I told her just do something nice for someone else.
I remember being so poor and having just filed medical bankrupcy 10 years ago that I wouldn't be seen at a clinic and how humiliated I felt. I would never wish that feeling on someone else.

WOW what a great story. Oprah always talks about this on her show. Do a good dead to someone in the hopes that person will pass it on and so on. Good for you.

That is so terrible that they wouldn't take care of her sick kids because there was already a bill (even if past due). I've been there, and have also had the humiliation of having them hold a $20 check till the next paydate. They have never turned me down. However, there is an additional $10 fee if they have to send me a bill. Oh well, but they've never denied me and my children. Don't make kids suffer.

I'm not surprised you did this, knowing you, but what a good thing you did. It probably made a real difference in everyone's sleep that night. I hope she was able to find a way to buy any meds needed. Bless you.
