Dh did a "pay it forward" today and he didn't even know there was a contest!! :)

Today, my dh and I, along with our two youngest girls, were driving when we saw a young man trying to push his truck backwards down the road, back into a parking lot. Well, lots of people passed him, but dh pulled off the road, put his blinkers on, and he got out to help. He and the young man pushed the truck all the way back into the parking lot and into a space. Our youngest daughter, who is not quite three cracked me up when I hear her chanting from her carseat, "Good job, Daddy. Good job, Daddy"!  Then, dh brought the young man to our truck, where he had me squish into the middle seat (that we never use because it is too small to fit in!), and he drove the young man back to his work. When he got out of our truck, he kind of scratched his head for a second and then said, "Thank you sir. I have to tell you, most folks would never have done what you just did. I appreciate it". Those were simple words, but they touched my heart, because, sadly enough, he is right. Most people DON'T stop to help take care of others...and I hope that this thread on our mommyboard makes all of us stop and remember that it is important that we take care of others, just as we want them to take care of us. One day, that may be us on the side of the road, and I sure hope that someone like my dh will be there to help me get where I needed to be.
