I make it a point to thank these individuals when I see them in "everyday" situations like a restaurant, supermarket and store. When the kiddos are with me I tell them what these people do and why we would thank them.

Also, if I have the opportunity to meet a veteran the first thing I saw is thank you for your service.

Steven and myself get thanked often. It amazes me that they thank me. But it makes us feel good!

I can't agree more. As a former Marine, and volunteer firefighter, it brings tears to my eyes when people are sincere in their thank yous. I make it a point to thank any veteran I see (especially the older ones, with their hats), since they so selflessly served our country. Plus, in this day and age, so many people are anti-troops. Please say thank you to your veterans.
