Walgreens is offering medical help for your family if you are unemployed, low cost if employed. Walgreens has an in-house clinic called Take Care in many locations. Your cases are handled by board-certified Family Nurse Practioners or Physician Assistants. Right now if you simply check it out, with or without using it, you will get a free coupon book w/$50 savings. They accept most insurance plans with your normal copay (great if you can't get in to a Dr. but don't want to wait forever at Urgent Care). They handle routine matters like bronchitis, strep throat, etc. Stuff that you'd see your Dr. for that would be a quick in and out. No appt. necessary, open 7 days a week. I see hours vary.
For the uninsured, the clinic visit is usually $59, but can go to $80.
Unemployed? Walgreens just announced that it will be offering the unemployed FREE visits!!! On top of that, Quest Diagnostics, is offering certain free laboratory tests, such as strep throat and urine cultures, as part of the "Take Care Recovery Plan" announced on Tuesdaye (they work with Walgreens) for the unemployed. You do have to show proof, such as papers you get from Unemployment Benefits.

BTW, CVS also has in-house clinics, although I am not aware of their cost nor have I heard if they are offering help like this for the unemployed.
