I wanted to put something positive on here. If anyone is looking for a less expensive alternative to the Dyson, I've found one. I messed up my old vacuum and needed a new one, so off we went to Home Depot. We discovered the Maytag Legacy. I have other Maytag appliances, so we gave it a try. It's made by Hoover and has great cyclonic action. We have old carpet that was put down by the old owners without padding on a concrete slab, this wears the backing and makes a ton of dust. You should see what this thing pulls up that my old vacuum wasn't getting. And the best part is you can clean the filter, because that's what cuts your suction. Just wanted to pass my find along and the best part is it's under $200! It is exclusive to Home Depot right now but it may show up other places later.

Thanks for the tip...I am still in the market for a new vacuum. I just need to get my rear in gear and make a decision

try looking at Best Buy credit. I paid ~$25 a month for 2 years (I think they are down in price now and got the more expensive pet model, although we don't have a pet now, lol) without any financing fees.
