Of course after getting Christmas done, I just thought of something I wanted to get but didn't! I was looking into getting a Leapfrog Leapster for my 3 year old. She is in preschool and I think she is learning nicely- but would like to get her something likes this. I was curious though. What is the difference between the regular Leapster and Leapster L-Max. I was checking into it and the only thing I can figure out is that the L-Max can plug into the tv. Is that the only difference? What do you reccomend for games for it as well? Thanks!

As far as I know that's the only differnece. My kids have the Leapster and love them, however my dd didn't really play with hers until she turned 4...at 3 she just wasn't interested in it.

I think 4 is the perfect age for them to start it, we got my dd the LMAX for Christmas. The LMAX hooks into the tv and you can use the LMAX games as well as the regular games and yes that is the only difference. However I did go and buy the LMAX b/c of the Letters game for the LMAX helps with writing and we are working on that right now, plus we can plug it up to the DVD player in our van for our road trip coming up so it was worth the extra for us. If my dd was older then we wouldn't have bought the LMAX but since we are starting out with it at 4 she has many years of use so we got it. Costco has the LMAX and game set for $79, My mom bought our kids them when they were buy 2 get 1 free at TRU

We got one for ds last Christmas. 4 does seem like a good age for them. And you can use the LMAX cartridges w/the regular leapster. We do all the time. HTH

We got our DD a Leapster when she was 3 1/2, she still plays with it and she is now almost 7! There are so many great games, but her favorites were Dora, Nemo, and Scooby. All the games are educational so it's nice We have definetly gotten a ton of use out of ours!
