Good question! This is a thread I'm going to watch as this is what we'd like to get our six year old daughter as well! More science for girls!

I got a good one at Target a couple of years ago. It was a National Geographic one and came in a hard, yellow plastic storage case with all of the accessories you need (slide plates, etc.). I think it retailed for around $40, but I picked it up on clearance at their July toy sale for $12. I do reccommend it!

here is a similar one (I know it is out of stock, but wanted to show you what it looks like)

We bought this one for our children to use:

My First Lab Ultimate Microscope - Student Scope MFL-05 for sale. Buy from the Science Company

It's been a good basic microscope.

I think this is the microscope I will be getting. Thanks for info!!
The microscope on the Amazon sale page is not worth the money. My dd had one just like it several years ago and it was worthless!!

You can find loads of microscope online... All in different sizes, prices, and quality. Just choose the best one that fits your needs.
