I know we have probably had this discussion before, but I think I am going to be in the market for a new car seat.

I currently have the Maxi Cosi Priori. I love, love, love this car seat. The problem is that I think that my son wont fit in it with his winter coat. It seems that the straps really aren't that long. Even with just a fleece jacket on, I find that I am trying to stuff him all in there. He is only 21 months old and weighs about 28lbs so we aren't ready for a booster seat. Without his coat, the seat is just fine.

Any suggestions out there?

We have the Evenflo Triumph Advance Deluxe and like it. DD is 31lbs and 28lbs - and I cannot fit her with a jacket on. I was thinking that I should loosen the straps a bit.

Check out Car Seat.Org - Carseat, Vehicle & Child Passenger Safety Forums. There's a wealth of information about everything car seat related and there are many Child Passenger Safety Technicians on the board who can answer any questions you might have.

They can also recommend ways to keep your son warm in the car without using bulky winter jackets which can prevent the harness from being properly tightened.

We have the Eddie Bauer seats and the kids can't wear their coats while they are buckled. I just make sure the car is warm before they go out and they each have a throw to put over them while they are riding. It's irritating but I haven't found a good solution yet.

Neither of my children can wear their jacket ZIPPED UP in their car-seats.

We leave it unzipped/un buttoned and pull the ends of the jacket (where the zipper starts( and pull them out by his/her belly on the sides. And perfecto they fit. It is recommeded NOT to losen the straps!!!!
