I happened to flip on HSN the other day and saw them selling these green plastic bags that are supposed to help produce last MUCH longer than without them. I waste so much produce since we don't eat it fast enough. I guess these bags do something with the ethylene gas (sp?) to keep the produce from rotting quickly. I've seen little pods in some of the mail-order catalogs I've gotten that are supposed to do the same thing. Anyone know anything about these?

I wondered this too. They seemed pricey (I haven't seen it on HSN because I can't stand their lack of customer service, check the web - many complaints, and I have had problems with them, too - they were selling them direct on TV before), but worth it, if they worked.

I bought some of these on qvc.com last spring, they were called debbie myers evertfresh bags. I just searched qvc and can't find anything on them. However, I did find them for sale on ebay. I paid around $20 for 50 bags...and I have to say they do work. I love to use them on bananas...because I love when bananas have some green on them. These help to keep them a little greenier for a day or so. I have also used them on potatoes, onions, carrots, bagged salad, etc. They aren't so good for some foods, especially those that come in bags with holes, like grapes...which seemed to do better just in the original bag put in the drawer on the veggie setting.
