Has anyone ever bought any recycled ink cartridges for their computer printers?

I have an HP printer and it takes 56/57 ink cartridges. So, I was pricing them on line and they are about $50.00. Then I decided to look on E-bay, and saw the recycled ones for much cheaper. I was thinking about trying them, but wanted to know if they are as good as the "new" ones. I mostly print pictures and want the quality to be good. Any Advice??

TIA

Do you mean the remanufactured ones? I just bought those for my Dell photo printer at Office max because they are soooo much cheaper than buying from Dell and they work great, just like the ones I have bought from Dell in the past.

Yes, they are a good way to save money. Even mainstream stores are carrying them now. Just be sure you deal w/a reputable company that offers a guarantee. There are some legit ones online, and you can probably find someone local.

I have had nothing but bad experiences with the recycled cartridges. When I was working I was at a office that we printed a lot of documents and stuff. When we bought new cartridges they would last 2 times longer than the recycled. And we printed pictures all of the time. It was at a Auto Body shop and we had to take pictures for insurance claims of vehicles that were involved in a collision.

But it could have been that the company we used was not as good. Could also be that I worked with all men and well you know men!

Walgreens is even recycling these now. And regarding the post above, I worked in the computer business before. The "back office" used recycled, but offices that dealt w/clients or investors used brand new ones. Same at home. I wouldn't use the recycled if I were printing photos or resumes, but for everyday printing, it's ok, as long as they are from reputable companies (the cartridges usually can be refilled about three times before degradation gets really bad.)

I would buy them. Basically all they do is refill them as many times as they can. Plus it helps with the environment. That's the only thing that we use at our office, reused toner cartridges.

Using them is a great idea. They are like new only cheaper.

I bought some and at first I thought I got ripped off, when I read it it said that you may have to run the printer a few times to get the ink flowing because of shipping. It worked and the ink seems to be just as bright in color and going as long as the regular ones, plus it is at half the price. Now I know that you can refill your own and people tell me that it's pretty easy, so after this one runs out I'm going to try that. Let you know how "easy" it is.

That is a great point that it helps with the environment. It doesn't seem like many people are that worried anymore, like they were in the 90's anyway.
