OK. Now the FDA says they couldn't find signs of rat poison in their tests. However, they did find the chemical melamine, or to make melamine - you know, the "plastic" dishes? BUT, there, so far, are no records of what the agent could do to the body.
I mentioned that they called me the other day to take the info on my cats that died. I remembered even more last night - the fact that Foxi's vomit was black, and I thought it looked like it was blood and a few other things. I think that in my grief, I actually blocked out things. I'm getting more angry now because I'm recalling how they were actually suffering. I'm going to take a notebook to bed for when I have a night like last night; up at 4am remembering things and stressing. My babies suffered. I did report all this to the vet, and I hope they wrote this down to collaborate what I'm reporting. I know I also posted things here, too, so I'm going to go back through my posts. The FDA is asking the same question as I'm asking: Why wasn't the food tested, in light of the new supplier, and why don't they - both menu foods and the companies it serves, like Iams, test their food independently? WHY did it take them three months after their initial reports of sickness and death to report it to the FDA and the public?
Also, my kids were very, very sick in December, as many of you will remember. I did think some of the breathing issues may have been from the carpet cleaner I used (I also thought that it was causing my animals to be sick and told the vet so, but she said no, that it wouldn't do it). But, dd was crawling then and learning to walk. Did my kids become sick from the cats in some way? After all, the cats were vomiting and not making it to their box during that time. Only last night did I put those two together.
Please, if your animals got sick from this food, call the FDA! I had to persist, because the line was busy and the voicemails were full, but they are taking this seriously and they still haven't found a common thread. They told me they would be contacting my vet and getting the records and even may be calling me back for more info.
When the "rat poison discovery" was first made by the mfr, they said that it wouldn't cause kidney failure. Well guess what, I did some research - yes it does. Now, the FDA finds melamine, which the mfr. didn't report, but the FDA found no rat poison. I think I know where the rat is!!
