This is a great eyeopener! My son too is allergic to this brand! He complains of burning and itching almost instantly when it is put on him. Obviously, it is more than just a couple of incidents!
We use Sunshades by Melaleuca, never had a problem with any of us since switching to that one last year. They have a spray on one now too, highly recommend it! PM me if you have any questions about that brand.

We also use sunshades! Great stuff!

Oh, and I am confused. What does playtex have to do with it?

I don't know. Apparently Playtex is the parent company to the Banana Boat brand. There is no significance to that, I just found it interesting.

We use Arbonne sunscreen. My dd had bad skin (we even used prescription elidel and it didn't work) until we started using their baby care line. It is awesome!

I use aveeno baby and like it. We have sensitive PALE skin here and it works for us. I have never tried it, but Arbonne has a good reputation.
So sorry your little one broke out!!!

I second this!!!! They are chemical free, and I feel better putting this on them.. NTM I dont prefer to have my son out in the sun to long, that he would require that much sun screen...

I'm currently on vacation in sunny Fl. I put spf 35 Banana Boat on my 3 year old guess what! He broke out! itchy, red face! I did a google search of allergic to sunscreen and found you ladies. Nice to know we are not alone, at least now I can know to stop using this brand. My 6 year old didn't breakout. However she is dark like her dad and my son has light skin like me.

Thank you!

Also, I didn't really think about it, but some sunscreens contain nut oil, including coconut (never thought about that qualifying), which could cause a reaction with someone with nut sensitivities/allergies.

My son had an allergic reaction to the NO AD brand of sunscreen just Tuesday. He used this sunscreen the saturday before! His face was swollen, and he had a rash on his head (buzzcut) and arms. It scared me, so I took him to the ER not knowing what is was! So I bought the Coppertone sport spray for kids. I hope this works!

Thanks! Andrea

Sorry to hear about your dd. That must be awful for her.

Another reason for me not to buy banana boat. I can't remember if you replied to my post about my oldest getting burnt twice while using it.

I'm using Blue Lizard now. I bought the sensitve suncream for non-swimming use (chemical & fragrance free) and regular for when they are swimming. It claims to provide 240 minutes of protection in the water.

So far so good.

Hope her rash heals soon!
