Hand Sanitizers can make your child sick if ingested (kids do lick things!)

Hmmmm...I think it's a pretty important thing...wanna just leave them where they are to get the message out and prevent drunk/sick kids?

I had read this and planned to talk to ds' school. He had recess just before lunch - they didn't give the kids time/opportunity to wash their hands in the bathroom (and thought I was overprotective when I kind of fought it) before going in to lunch after getting dirty at recess. They just stood by the door and sprayed sanitizer on everybody's hands. Then the kids go and eat carrot sticks, nuggets, burgers, etc. w/their hands...get the picture? Mrs. desertmom will bringing this up again at the pre starting school meetings. Problem is, their answer is "Well, we can take recess out." That is not the issue - they should be washing their hands before eating, no matter what!n my soapbox: n my soapbox: n my soapbox:

Wow! I would have never even thought of hand sanitizer doing that! The little girl I keep, keeps her hands in her mouth, so I am going to quit using this on her. Thank you so much for posting this!

I called our ped's office about this and the nurse said that it is possible. I explained that I was concerned about dd who sucks her thumb. The nurse said that it would probably be a good idea not to use this on her.

I have a freind who uses GermX, from Walmart, & it doesn't have alcohol in it. I think I'm going to switch to that.
