OK, I am usually not a complainer! But I have a major bone to pick with the BEHR company. My husband and I decided to stain our deck last August. I did it by the book! I asked tons of questions from Home Depot (they sell BEHR) and we even called Behr with all of our questions. This May we walked out on our deck to find that it was chipping, fading and looked aweful! The reason why we chose BEHR was because we heard it was the best...So, I called BEHR and told them what was wrong. They said they'd reimburse us for the stain stripper, conditioning treatment and the new stain, which they did (as they should have). My big problem is all of the work we had to go though AGAIN because the product didn't work right the first time. We waisted 4 entire days just to fix the problem- I feel that they should have payed us for more than just the product, because if it would have worked right the first time, we wouldn't have had to spend four days working on it all over again. I am dissappointed with BEHR, and when our deck needs to be re-stained in a few years (hopefully it will last two years like it says it will!!!!) we will not be using BEHR again!

You could put a complaint against them with the BBB. to warn other people about that particular product.

Yes, check with the BBB they might be able to help you. I would also write a letter to Home Depot and let them know the product they are carrying is not working in the real world.

Unfortunately thats the problem with stain. Did you use oil based or latex? We did all of our decks last year, and the 2 we use year round - the front porch and the back deck - both need to be restained. Mostly from moving the snow off the decks. Did you use a color or clear? I know its a pain in the neck (and everywhere else) to do it all over again, Im not a happy camper about it either.

We used oil based- it had a 2 year warrenty on the floor of the deck and a 5 year warrenty on the deck sides (both our floor and sides and hand rails were all equally as bad- chipping and look horrible!) It is a color- which is not much different from the natural color of our wood- We just moved in to this home last June...In our other home that we moved from I stained the deck with a cheaper product and it worked even better (I was staining the deck once every 3 years) and we never had any chipping, or ugly looking spots on it. My problem is, when they put a garentee on the stain- and the stain doesn't last 1/2 as long as they say it will, they should reimburse you not only for the new products, but the work and extra time that you put into it as well. This is my families 1st time using BEHR, and although we have heard good things about it (stain and paint) we have bad feelings about the brand and I do not feel that we will ever use it again.

We did go to Home Depot and they said that we had to speak with the manufacturer...they also said that they were getting quite a few complaints about the BEHR stain, so they would look into the problem...But who knows what that means???
