Hello,

I was wondering if anyone out there buys anything from Schwanns. It is the home delivery company that sells food. My mother just called me and asked me if I had heard of it because her neighbor said she had bought 4 bags of vegetables, a bag of frozen biscuits and something else and it was $4.59 plus $1.00 for delivery. I knew there was no way that was right because I had looked at the website before and it seemed a little high to me. I got on their website and looked at the frozen vegetables and a 2.5 lb bag of frozen corn is $4.59. A few of the other products I looked at were a half gallon of vanilla ice cream for $5.99 and a 2.5 lb bag of boneless, skinless chicken breasts for $19.99. I was just wondering if anyone knows if there is something about this product that makes it worth the extra that you seem to pay for it other than the convenience of having it delivered.

I think that they are very high. Their meals are not big enough to feed our family of five. I thik that their veggies and fruit look good, but still too high. Perhaps, if you were abel to sit down and figure it out including what it would cost you to go to the store and pick it up and what it costs for Schwanns to deliver it.

There are a few things that I like from Schwann's but most of it is overpriced.

I do prefer the breaded chicken strips and the veggies are fairly good. The corn on the cob is excellent... it just tastes a lot better than store bought. We also really love the summer sausage.

HTH!

I used to get it religiously when I was a "working gal". Our Schwans man would come to the hair salon I worked at every 2 weeks. It is very pricey, but a nice convenience. The goulash was great, chicken pot pies, cheeseburgers, ice cream, mesquite chicken breasts, any of thier express meals were yummy, fruit was good. But, portions are not family friendly for the prices you pay.

I'll be an oddball to say that I don't think their food is all that remarkable, we found it very ordinary. Expensive, ordinary food. L.OL

My husband's grandmother used them for awhile before she moved in with my in-laws. I've looked at their catalogs a few times and would agree that they are not cheap...but it worked well for her because she just could not get out to go shopping on her own. I've had a few of their meals - I wasn't all that impressed (the salt content is pretty high on their prepared meals too but that's not surprising since it's prepackaged food). Their frozen yogurt is wonderful though.

the chicken nuggets are good for my girls they cook well in the microwave or stove. They seem to have more meat and less breading but I do have to ide the bag from my husband they are pricy about 14.00 something for I think a total of 90 nuggets. Last's awhile for my girls(and friends sometimes) but my husband could kill a bag in no time! I know they are too high but my girls will eat these over any store bought ones that I have found. I agree with others food is not enough to feed a family and everything is high. Although I have been known to get the cheese biscuits at times.
