Thank you for those of you who suggested using Dawn detergent to get rid of the grease stains from our work uniforms. Dh just picked some up from Walmart, and it will be sooooo much cheaper than Shout!! I have a question:

Can you treat the stain with Dawn detergent, then let it sit overnight? Or must you wash it right away? The reason I ask is that dh gets home late some nights, and I know he doesn't want to run the washer then. But we don't want the Dawn to discolor the shirt, either.

Thanks for your help!

I have things that I let sit for days with Dawn on it ~ I haven't had any trouble - and the stains still come out.

I often apply it to stains and then let that shirt sit in my laundry room til I'm ready to wash it and it might be a day or two, I've never had Dawn discolor anything. Ever.

Good luck! HTH!

Um, not to be disgusting, but I've left stuff for weeks with Dawn on it with no ill effects. Usually that happens when I set something delicate aside until I have a load to match...
