OK, after watching Bob Greene on Oprah the other day I decided that I needed to TRY some of the healthier foods that he was suggesting so that when I do decide to go on a much needed diet I'm used to some of those things. Sooooooooooo, I bought & tried Silk Soy Milk, Chocolate flavored. I did NOT like it, it tasted like watered down YooHoo to me, blech(where is that green faced smiley?? lol)

So, my question is this.....

Do the other flavors taste any better?? Or do other brands of Soy milk taste better? Silk was the only brand at Marc's(my local discount grocer)

TIA

ETA, my ds loved it, go figure!! At least it won't got to waste!!

Soy milk is definitely an acquired taste. I like it, I normally buy vanilla flavor, never the regular, it has a funny taste to it. I also drink rice milk. It taste almost similar to soy milk. These are great especially if you're lactose intolerant.

I can't drink it straight - I tried it on cereal, and it's just too sweet. I haven't found a GOOD use for it...

My dd won't drink cow's milk...she just doesn't like the taste. She loves the vanilla silk soy milk. It's probably not appropriate for everything you use milk in, but she drinks it and I've put it in cereal (just makes the cereal a little sweeter and vanilly). Try the vanilla at least once before you give up. My family HATED, HATED rice milk so I won't buy that again.

The only soy milk I like is Westsoy Soy Slender. Vanilla and chocolate are ok. Now I'm using Rice Dream vanilla rice milk and I like it better than any other "milk alternative" I've tried. It's great on cereal and I can sometimes drink it straight in small amounts.

I used to drink the Silk soy milk, for about 4yrs, and it was the red carton which I think is regular flavor. My dh hates soy milk, really can't get past the color of it more than the taste! I recently have started a search for a carrageenan free soy milk, it is the sea weed derived thickening agent they use. I found West soy to be pretty good. I only use soy milk for cereal or in my tea though. My sister and dad use Rice Dream and like it, I tried that too and just didn't like it.

I use the regular soy milk. I like Silk and 8th continent. To me the original is almost like melted ice cream. Now I buy the light. It's not quite as thick and tastes about the same. I have a hard time keeping my dd out of it.

It is definitely an aquired taste though. Hope you find one that you like.

You might want to try almond milk. The chocolate flavor is very good. My family loves it! I buy the Blue Diamond brand. My doctor took my son off dairy and soy for a year. This product has been a life saver since he use to drink a lot of milk.
