As a former buyer in the computer industry, I'm not a huge Epson fan. Plus, dh had gotten an Epson printer and we have such problems w/it!
That said, the biggest advantage to having a photo printer is convenience of printing at home, definitely not the cost. Even not taking the cost of purchasing the printer into account, the mfrs themselves acknowledge the cost of ink and paper are equivalent to the average cost of getting your pics processed at Target or Walgreens - the avg. cost is 20 cents per print, 15 cents if you get really good deals on ink or paper.
So....it's not for the sake of saving money, but for the sake of convenience and privacy. It's nice to sit there and print, but is that what you paid over $100 for?
If you get premium paper and ink, it is supposed to last as long - see? Another reason not to go for the "best deal".
