I hope I'm posting this in the right spot. But I've got to get a freezer.
All weve got now is the freezer above our fridge and I would like
to get a small one to store things in when I find stuff on sale. Can
you give me some suggestions which ones are the best and where's
the best place to buy a reasonable priced one? I'd really appreciate
it. Thanks ladies

We got ours at HH Gregg, It was $139.00 about 3 years ago and it has more than paid for itself. Its a chest freezer which I think are cheaper than an upright. Its a smaller one but works well for us since it doesn't take up a lot of space. I keep it in the basement.

I have even seen them at Walmart.

Well, I have no idea which is the best/least expensive one. But I did want to throw out an idea. Have you searched garage sales? The only reason I mention that is that at my old house (in my wild single days! ), there was a deep freeze when I moved in. Because I was single, I realized that I just didn't use it. So I sold it for $50. Just an idea. You might also want to get the word out that you're needing one, and who knows? Maybe someone you know is wanting to get rid of theirs.

We have a medium size chest freezer. I love it. It comes in so handy. We actually bought ours about 3 years ago from a friend of Dh's. He was really tight on money and we got it for $100. It has paid for it's self over and over. it is really great for when there is a great sale on meats, and frozen foods. With a family of five, I can not imagine living without one. I would forever be going to the store for food.

Thanks guys, you all have been really helpful. I thought about
looking for one in a yard sale and I've been checking the paper
also. But i was curious to what brands you guys liked. Keep the
ideas coming I love hearing everyones ideas. I thought i've got to
get one because it will save us alot of money when i catch stuff on sale.
Thank you so much for your input.

We've had both a chest & an upright one, and I like the upright better (both were hand-me-downs from my inlaws, so price wasn't a factor). It is much easier to find things in the upright. If you fill up the chest, you have to dig through everything to find something that is at the bottom, which freezes your hands & wastes electricity while you have the door open for several minutes searching.

I have a small chest freezer. We bought it last year and we keep it in our garage. It was cheaper than an upright freezer. I got mine at Lowe's. It was $230 for a little over 12 cu ft. (I think that's right)
I love it! After we bought it I bought a case of chicken on sale and we bought 1/4 cow last summer. It is still full of meat! I stock up on stuff at Sam's Club and have a place for everything. My house freezer is always full too, so it's nice having the chest freezer.

O.k Ladies, we got a freezer Yahoo. :happy dance: We got
a small chest one at Wal-mart for about 150.00 I tried finding
one in a yard sale and I even went and got one from a woman
in the paper. But we got it home and it got hot and I was afraid
it just wasn't going to work right. Bad thing is I really liked it,
it was a Kenmore upright. It was really nice but something was
just not right. So we took it back and thank goodness she gave
us our money back. She was real nice about it. So dh and I
are really happy now. I also wanted to thank all of you for your
advice and to let you know how much I appreciated it. Thanks
again.
