This may sound silly but how come it is only the ones purchased after May 1st? Like my dd has the baker Dora and the bedtime Dora, she got them for Christmas, and they are both on the recall list if I would have bought them recently. Should I take them away anyway? It just makes me nervous about it now. But how would I explain why I am taking away a Santa toy?

I am not understanding why companies think they can get away with this stuff , untill they get too many lawsuits. Its horrible that they get away with selling this stuff and then all of a sudden they are forced to recall. How do they figure someone wouldn't notice or have a ill side effect.

I was just coming here to post a link about this.

We really need to take a stand, here. From what I have heard on the news, it is all self regulation in China. I don't buy character toys for my kids, but the toys we do have are all made in China. It's funny how I, personally, am willing to give things up, and live simply, but when it comes to my kids, I want them to have something pretty close to what all the other kids have.

Maybe all these recalls will prompt a lesson for my husband and I.

I would email Mattel and ask.

Here's a link..

Mattel Adds 9 Million Toys To Recall - Family News Story - KPHO Phoenix

Regarding why only these lots...due to a change in the supplier - of paint? of mfr.? Don't know. But be sure to check the codes against those on the site.

I am very disappointed in Mattel. They should have been testing this stuff, especially after a mfr. change. ANY company dealing with China should be doing independent testing.

UGH! I just spent the last hour looking up toys to find I have 3 things listed! For the Tanner Pooper scoop they will send a new one out when they get the 'recalled' one back...But for the polly pockets...DD has the limo and theme park..both afftected serial #s...I have the big pieces but the rest of the accessories and such are somewhere in the Polly Pocket Bin and there are ALOT of Pollys in there...I hope the instructions they are mailing out don't include to send the accessories back with the big part (they were part of the magnet recall list).

These toy recalls are really ticking me off.

My dd has two of the Polly Pocket toys on the list -- a Polly Pocket boutique (looks like a large green bag) and a Polly Pocket pet salon. My dd got these toys when she was about 4 years old. She's 8 now, so that means she's been playing with dangerous toys for 4 years! And now Mattel is telling parents to fork out the money to have our kids tested for lead paint exposure. It's Mattel that should be paying for these medical tests.

Thankfully, my dd is getting to the age where she's not so much into toys anymore. However, she still plays with things from time to time. With all the recent recalls (we're even waiting on some info from Hasbro to ship back dd's Easy Bake Oven) and the threat of more to come, my dd won't have any toys left to play with. I guess we'll just have to give our kids sticks, rocks, and leaves to play with. At least we'll know they won't contain magnets or lead paint.
