Does anyone have Dish or direct tv? We only have 4 channels and they are starting to not come in sometimes. I am considering dish or direct tv, but I don't know much about them. Whenever I look into it, it looks like a lot of extra monthly charges. I would like to not pay more than 30 dollars a month . Is this possible? Any input would be appreciated.

Thank you very much....
Cindy

We have dish and the reception for us is much better than our Cox Cable was also it was chepaer for more channels! As for monthly costs I think it just depends on what package you are looking for. We have Americas top 120 which is the middle package. I pay 110 a month but its bundled with my land line phone and DSL. I also pay an extra $20.00 on the phone for long distance its worth it to call my grandmothers, and sil out of state more often and our cell phones are $20.00 every 90 days for emergencies and such.

I have directv, I really like it.

I think there is a $29.99 family plan, it only has around 40 channels. It is $4.99 for each additional receiver, the first one (main) is free. If you have DVR, it is a $5.99 monthly charge for that.

My bill is around $65 each month, I have the Choice Extra with DVR and have 1 extra receiver, probably get 200 channels.

With the pay-per-view, and all the sports packages, etc.. that is extra money each month, but with the plan I have, I get just about any channel you can think of.

We have DirecTV and really like it. I don't know about staying below $30 but I am sure that you can find out. We have a higher package and extra recievers.

If you do switch check for promos, becuase you should be able to get your equipment and installation free. There are always promos going on in our area.

I had Dish Network and switched to DirecTV - I liked DirecTv better. We now have cable (Comcast) and it totally sucks. We are going to see if we can get a satellite signal from the back of our property where there are no trees.

I have known a lot of people that have had problems with Dish network mainly with instillation and billing. We have directv and love it. I don't know what package we have but it's not the lowest. With dish network you have to pay $5 for locals and with directv locals are free.

We have directv too - and now pay about $70 per month. That is with 3 receivers (4.99 for each additional over 1) -- and NO pay channels. We have the family package with the kids shows, thats it. 900 or something channels... and theres never anything on worth watching! :-)

Our local cable company is CableOne. They are always advertising about how they are so much better than satellite, more reliable, cheaper, etc. Balony!!! We switched to DirecTV a few years ago and are never going back. The only time we have ever had out satellite go out is when the Virginia Creeper vines craw up to the roof line and start taking over the dish. That's when we have to go and cut it back - but that is rare. By contrast, the cable reception was going out all the time. That said, I do have CableOne for my internet access - weird, I know.

We were going to look into a Dish Network system but I could never get anyone to call me back. They market differently from CableOne and DirecTV. I think Dish Network sells franchises and those are the people who bill and service your account. Apparently, in our area, many of these people turn out to be fly-by-night operations. The DirecTV billing has been very stable, the dollar amount hardly ever changes.
