Hi all

I just wanted to share with everyone something I came across. I posted on here a little while back asking what kind of thermometer was the best kind to get and got several great responses. I decided to go with the one called Thermofocus from KidzMed.com - Home Health Care Products With Children In Mind.. I absolutely love it so far. It is a bit expensive but worth it if you have the money for it. If you don’t have a thermometer you are happy with then I suggest checking it out.

Anyways, I just wanted to share. Thanks for all the great advice I have gotten so far! :happy dance:

Is it accurate? My Ped will not accept a temp from a thermometer unless it was a digital done orally or rectally or a temporal artery thermometer, she says all others are inaccurate. If you tell them you used an ear reader or any other method they go into how they are not consistant and inaccurate. I have an Exergen Temporal Artery thermometer just like the one they use in my Ped's office and they are only $34.95 at my Wal-Mart. Here is a link to one at Costco:

I have the Exergen thermometer too. I like it cause I can also take the temp of the room. So I know if it is too hot or cold in there. It's easy to use too.

When had my first dd my Ped would not allow the ear reader only rectal. I refused to take a rectal temp because the hospital where dd was born told everyone no matter what do not take temp. rectally. They had so many babies brought to the ER because of injuries from parents putting the thermometer in too far. I told the Ped that I would only take it with an ear reader and they refused to accept the reading so later I lied and said that I took the temp rectally. Every time I called I would lie about how i had taken her temp. Funny thing is 6 months later when dd was sick and running a temp. Ped office told me to only take her temp with an ear thermometer. They no longer recommended using a rectal thermometer because of the number of injuries. The office only uses an ear temp reader now. Crazy!! I guess it depends on the Ped. everyone is different. The temporal artery thermometer does look interesting though.
