Please help. Of all the things that are annoying, here is my #1 for this week:

I finally have time to do some serious cleaning around the house, more than the normal "schoolbag, shoe and sock" brigade, and my stupid vacuum cleaner sucks! But its not sucking enough ! I spent an hour tearing it apart to find the clog and then putting the whole thing back together. However, after I had used it for about 5 minutes it started smelling hot, like the belt was slipping.

6 month old Vacuum cleaner purchased at walmart. I really expected to get more out of it. I can't afford the $3000 dollar models that the sales people bring to the door. So, does anyone have a favorite model? Maybe even give us some comic relief and share your vacuum drama. I could really use a laugh. (And a maid with Power Cleaners)

bought a dyson last year it cost 500.00 but it was worth every penny, it really does not lose suction and with all the attachment i can clean just about everything in my house, i've had the cheaper vacumns in the past and they only last a couple of years, i have 2 dogs and a cat so lots of pet hair, so i figure in the long run i am saving money by buying a good quality vacumn

I really wanted a Dyson but could not afford it. I recently researched vacuums on the internet and bought the following. Eureka Boss Upright, so far so good. I needed a good one because I have two shedding dogs.

Our last vacuum was a Dirt Devil. It would not pick up anything!!! I will never buy another dirt devil.

I like the Eurka Boss so far. Here is a link.

If my Dyson gives out, I'm buying a whole house vacuum system.

Kenmore vacuums are great. We bought a $200 model 6 years ago and it still works great and even picks up dog hair.

I clean houses for a living and I've found that the Oreck is best for me. I found a used one for $200. It doesn't have attachments, but I also have the small cannister that you carry as you work. They both suck very well. I got the cannister used for $60. I've heard people complain about how the Oreck gets clogged or goes thru alot of belts, but with anything you buy you need to maintain it, clean it out, etc.. I make sure I clean the spindle, change the bag before it gets full and check for stuff in the tube. I do alot of houses that have dogs and cats and it works very well there. I never have to go over a spot twice, it picks the hair up that well. JMHO

Well... mine's not as fancy sounding as those, it's a Dirt Devil, was just around $100 when I got it about 10 years ago, but it's still going strong and I've never once had a problem with it.
