Dh is 1/2 Italian but when we don't have homemade (which i find isn't that tough, but takes a long time) we use Bertoli Italian Sausage, Four Cheese or Tomato Basil.

I make homemade sauce in the crockpot when I have time (double the recipe and freeze it). But I also always have on hand the Hunts No Added Sugar Traditional Sauce - it's 0 points on Weight Watchers : ), and is easy to doctor up with more veggies.

But you get a screamin' deal on it!!! I pay $1.25 for it when it's on ad!! Seems that everything is expensive where I live.

I am very picky about jarred sauce. I only buy 3 different brands, depending on sales and coupons. First choice is Newman's Own (either Roasted Garlic or Mushroom), second is Barilla Mushroom and third is Classico (either the 4 cheese or mushroom). I have never had a canned sauce that didn't taste off to me some how. But with my preferences, if I buy when on sale and with a coupon, I can get them for about $1.29 a jar, so I stock up then.

I usually buy Hunt's or Bertolli organic garlic, basil and olive oil, even Aldi mushroom is good but we'd like to try something without so much sodium and sugar/high fructose corn syrup. I was hurrying through the store last week though and grabbed a can of Hunt's no added sugar italian something or other. Oh man was that worst dinner ever! None of us liked the sauce, not even my dh who will eat anything without complaining! I didn't read the can at the store so at the time I didn't realize no added sugar really meant: tons of added salt and sucralose, along with some sugar. Makes no sense to me. I guess I should pull out my spaghetti sauce recipe and see if it's worth making my own, if I can find sodium free tomato sauce.
