This is the first year that the kids (well, mostly dd) is asking for a video game system for Christmas. Actually, we think it's a pretty good idea because they are getting older and not playing with toys as much anymore. Dd is 8, ds is 4. I have NO idea what is out there and what I should be looking for. I know that dd has done dance dance revolution - is that Playstation? I need help!

i would highly recommend the Wii i don't have it but a friend of mine does and the kids absolutely love it and its great to play. i have played it and it is so super fun. i would also recomend the gamecube i have one of those and we enjoy it. as far as playstation or xbox is concerned in my opinion those are more meant for more serious gamers, they ahve terrific graphics and some really awesome games, but i personally like the Wii and gamecube.

I think the wii is the best too!!! You can also play Game Cube games on it. It is very active and you can actually get a work out playing video games!

We have a PS2 and the Wii. For your age children I would recommend the Wii. The games are mostly family friendly and very interactive. I actually enjoy playing the Wii and I am not a video game person.

Dance Dance is a video game that you can get with the PS2 or other systems. I don't think for the Wii, but there is enough fun stuff for the Wii that I think it would make up for it.

We have several gameboys, one Nintendo ds, psp, ps2, gamecube, Nintendo and Nintendo 64. Now my oldest wants a xbox360 and two want Nintendo ds for Christmas. For the past month they actually have been playing the old $5 Nintendo we got at a garage sale. Thought that was really funny.
Heard great reviews on the wii but no one here was interested in it. Not sure why.

My kids have been playing with our old Nintendo from college for years - it still has great stuff like Mario Bros. and Donkey Kong! Gotta love those old games. Thanks for the advice on the Wii. The next challenge is to find the best price on one!

We bought a Wii for our family Christmas gift this year and can't wait to be able to play it. I'm not a video game person but the Wii is a lot of fun, my personal favorite is bowling, and there are lots of other fun games to chose from.

We were contemplating getting a Wii for a family system since we already have a Game Cube.

Cheryl, What do you get for the $249.00? How many remotes and other extras are required?
