I am looking to buy my DH an electric razor for Christmas. I am not looking to break the bank but I also know that you get what you pay for. Does anyone have any suggestions for a good brand or model that works well for the males in your life? Having never bought one I don't even know how to start looking. TIA

I got dh a new Norelco X something last year - the exact models change all the time. But he's used that brand for years happily. We did try a few others, but no thanks. The higher prices - $80 and up - give you extra features - self cleaning, self sharpening, self charging, etc. At that rate, the extras where what escalates the cost. Cordless is nice. You should be able to get some good deals this time of year, too! I start w/Target/Walmart for variety, and after shopping around usually end up back there to buy.

All I can tell you is we started my husband with a rotory head one (the three round heads) and over the years he has transitioned to the bar type. Frankly, he now buys his own shavers. Since he travels so much he just picks up cheap ones when he sees them, then if he leaves one behind accidently or it gets so banged up it stops working, he isn't out much.

In my opinion, the edge trimmer is the most important part. As long as that works well and is easy to use, I'm happy.

I've been thinking about this for my DH and DS too. Razor blades for his regular razor are pretty expensive, and i have thought about buying him an electric razor but he's always complaining about sensitive skin and bumps, that i worry an electric razor would aggrivate that. I hate to spend over $80 on something if he isn't going to use it.

I know that my dad and grandpa always had the 3 head kind. I don't know that it did as good of a job as my husband's regular razor though. Do you recommend the extra features or are they just a waste of money? Do any electric razors shave as well as regular razors?

Regular gives dh a closer shave, but he gets nicked and rashed more. I wouldn't get all the bells and whistles, but you really have to see what will work in your house. Having a self cleaning/self sharpening head was good for us, along with the constant charge and cordless.

Target is putting some on sale for black friday.
