We are contemplating getting a Wii this year (if there are any left!) for the kids. Is this something our son, age 4, could also do? I'm sure he would grow into it, but are there any games specifically for younger kids?

It depends on how co-ordinated your kids are. We don't have one but my parents do (the coolest grandparents in the universe) and my 3 of their grandkids ages 5, 7, & 9 play with it regularly. The sports ones that come with it are good for any age. I guess they have more 'girly' ones too. I think they ordered a Barbie Fairytoia one or something but it hasn't come in yet so I don't know how good it is.

My 4 yr old plays the sports games on it. The 7, 8 & 9 yr old play pretty much every game. (except the girly ones!, which we don't have)

My bestfriend just got one, and her 5 yr old & 2 yr old play with it.. They love the boxing game from what I have heard. I don't know if the 2yr old has played any of the others, but from what I understand, the 5yr old has played most if not all of the ones they have got so far.

First, good luck finding one! I am so glad I got mine in September!

I went to get my boys the Star Wars new game the other day and ended up talking to the kid who worked at Target. He apparently is quite the gamer and Wii is his favorite, by far, he said. He gave me a lot of ideas for games that younger kids would like. I would suggest talking to a salesperson who knows what they are talking about to the best of your knowledge.

He strongly suggested the Mario Brothers Galaxy and the sports package with it as well as the Wii play. I just ordered that on amazon. It has some simple games on it and for $50 you get an extra controller and the game. He said Mario Brothers Galaxy would wear the kids out, too. Lots of movement and fairly easy to comprehend for a 5 year old and 7 year old.

We decided we are going to get the Wii and while they might not like it at this point its going to be a pic in a box with an IOU hopefully by Feb they will be back in stock! Then will invest in more games for bdays!

We currently have a Game Cube and the Star Wars game is by far the one played the most! I would get that one. I am happy to that the gc games can still be played on the wii system!

We LOVE our Wii!! My girls (7, 5, & 3) really enjoy it too! I agree the ii Sports (th one that comes with the extra controller) is excellent for the little ones...it has a neat "people finder" game that my then 4 yr old LOVES along with my 3 yr old. Also, Maro Party 8 is like a boardgame on the TV, so it is easy to play, but has some reading so your son will need to get he hang f it first, but then the reading is less important. Thboxng game is also super eay and that comes right with the game system. We ust bought guitar Hero (for my birthday---I love the Wii too!) and that is SUPER fun, but takes lots ofcoordiation, my 7yar old is determined to do it and I think she will master it if she sticks with it! (itis rated teen, but I hink thatis mostly due to the song lyrics and coordination levels...lke Poison's Talk Dirty to Me is one of the songs--which again, I love!)

Good luck finding one, I hope you are int he right place at the riht time, that is how we got ours last Christmas!
