DH needs new work pants (khakis) and polo shirts. I've purchased polo shirts from everywhere - Macy's, Bon Ton, Sears, Walmart, JcPenney's - and they all shrink oddly and wear terribly. I'm ready to bite the bullet, and while the holiday sales are great, grab him at least a couple high quality shirts. I checked prices at Eddie Bauer, Columbia Outfitters, Ralph Lauren (lol yeah RIGHT!). Does anyone buy their clothes? Are they good quality? Do they wash well, hold up well? The shirts I found all say that they are to be tumbled dry on low heat, but I dry EVERYTHING on low heat (and wash his work clothes in cold water) and the shirts I've bought that say the same thing still shrink something awful. I've started to hang dry them, so that helps with that but I don't want something that will shrink every time I wash them. Also, as for khakis, we've been buying them at Sam's Club, as they are good quality pants for only $15. Dockers are TERRIBLE and every pair we've ever bought him has split and within days and we've had to return them. But I saw Dickies has khakis and they are supposedly reinforced, as they are meant for the "working man". Anyone have experience with this brand of clothing? Is it good? The price seems like it may be a little "too good to be true" for high quality stuff, so I was just wondering. Thanks ladies!

My dh is hard on his clothing, has been for years...first years of semi pro skateboarding and now as an athletic director, teaching outside all day.
We have always had good luck with Dickies. They make a khaki work pant that washes well, doesn't shrink and doesn't look exactly like a tough work pant. They are very stiff at first, but after a few washes they soften up. I think he has two pairs now, one older and more stained but still wearable.
I also have started to buy more clothes on sale from LLBean, Eddie Bauer, Lands End, and Columbia. They have good sales and are good quality, I'd rather pay $5 more for a fleece vest from LLBean than get it at Target. He doesn't care if he wears the same thing every week, so he can get away with having a handful of work shirts, fleeces and work pants and washing them often. I find all of those brands wash well. It helps to only dry for 15 min and then hang for the rest of the time.
He gets frustrated with Target and Old Navy clothes, they don't hold up as well and he gets into clothing "habits", always wearing the same stuff.

I would recomend LL Bean, last year I bought dh a couple pairs of pants and some nice dress shirts (he had to wear ties at the time) at the end of season and they really are holding up very good quality! Of course they have now changed the dress code and he can where polo shirts. I know I will break down and buy a couple BUT they are going for $24.95 for the long sleeve ones. the good news free shipping and good quality! He still is wearing shirt and ties at least twice a week until I get him stocked up
