Wanted to get MIL a good quality set of make-up brushes, particularly the kind for applying blush, bronzer, etc. Can anyone recommend a good set that won't break the bank, is considered "professional" quality and will last a long time? TIA for your help!

I don't know how much you are looking to spend....but have you ever heard of the MAC line of cosmetics??? They make some very good quality makeup brushes. If you buy them individually them can get very pricey. Right now, they are offering the holiday brush sets....and I think they range from $50.00 - $65.00 depending on the set you are looking for. I just bought my MIL a set for her birthday....it cost me $50.00 but I bought her the set for eye makeup. Hope this helps.

Thanks, that is about what I have seen them at. I guess I didn't think that they were this much? Have I been living in a closet or just using Cover Girl too long ???!!! I do know of Mac, and I have seen similar lines for about $50 - this seems to be the going rate. I guess I was looking in the $25 range - is there anything decent on-line or maybe something available at CVS??

I have a set of Lancome brushes that I've had for over 20 years...still going strong. I have to say though, if I were to need some again, I would buy just the brushes I want individually, as opposed to a set, because some brushes, I just don't use at all. But that's me.

Check around at a few different places, check the prices, feel the brushes etc

Since you're getting a gift, I would just get a simple set...and sure, you can find something at CVS. Revlon has brushes IIRC. The price you pay for them will likely reflect their quality. Maybe check out Target? The Sonia Kashuk line? It will be cheaper than a department store set but probably nicer than Revlon. JMO

Good luck!

Have you looked at Sephora??? They have the sephora brand and those are typically cheaper in price....but still pretty good quality.

Try mark too. They have a decent set pretty cheap.
