Banquet Crockpot classics. Stroganoff and Meatballs. Blech! I love stroganoff. I liked their chicken one, and the beef stew. I thought the stroganoff would be even better. I bought 2 bags (because the other dinners weren't enough for the 6 of us, if we all ate it). When I read that it said 8 servings, I thought it would be fine, since the little one is so picky lately. Good thing that I only made one. Bad that we have another bag to use.
The sauce was bland, and the noodles were yucky. I did it as the directions called for, but I am thinking that may have been part of the problem. You put the noodles in 25 minutes before it is done. I think next time, I will make the noodles completely seperate. Boil them on the stove and then add them at the end. Plus, I will do some serious doctoring with the sauce. I say next time, because I can't waste a whole bag of food. I will just doctor it up, and hope it tastes better.

Penelope, do you think you would want to copy this over in the Product Talk forum? I bought those, opened them, and didn't get to use it, so I threw it out after awhile. Guess I'm glad I did!

What about adding in a can of cream of mushroom soup and one of these 3 things-worchestershire sauce, soy sauce or beef bolliuon.A little salt and pepper and maybe some mushrooms if you have them.

Yeah, I was thinking after I posted it, that it should go over there. I will move it. I was thinking Worchestershire sauce would help. It had plenty of mushrooms in it already.

I love the Banquet Crockpot meals but hadn't tried the stroganoff yet. I'm glad I didn't! Thanks for the warning.

I said this in yesterdays dinner thread, but thought I would put it here too.
My husband had me make the other one yesterday to get it over with. I was thinking that the funny taste was wine. I read the ingredients and it had wine in it. He was thinking there was way too many mushrooms in it. I have cooked with wine before, and he didn't like it. It was cooking wine though, and I have heard Emeril say he wouldn't cook with any wine that he wouldn't drink.
I didn't have much stuff to add too it, so this is what I did. I didn't not add the noodles uncooked to the pot. I boiled them seperatley and put them in at the end. That improved the noodles texture, they were too gummy the first time.
I also added half a pack of beef stew seasoning. Hubby said it didn't help at all(he still ate it though) but I think it helped slightly.
I think Worsterchestire sauce might have helped, but I was all out, and it was listed in the ingredient list too. It just needed something that would mask that wine flavor.
