I'm due in August and will be needing a infant car seat and would like to know which one you picked and the pros and cons?

Thanks

On Consumer Reports Chicco and Britax were rated top 2 but would like to know what you choose.

I love my britax roundabout. Though it only goes up to I think 40 lbs. My 1 ds is using it.
I also bought an evenflo (forgot the name of it) and I like this one because it is wide and seems like he has more room. My 1 year old is in it and I think it goes up to 100 lbs.

If you are close to a store that have them like babies r us- go and really look at them. They also have a carseat bench so you can put the carseats on it and really see how it looks/feels and how easy it is to use.
Good luck

I have a Graco, which we have been happy with, but it is over 4 years old and we've never had an accident in it.

For baby #4 we bought a Graco Safeseat infant seat, it fits baby up to 32 inches long and 30 lbs compared to the other carseats that only fit to 26 inches long and 20 lbs. My boys grew out of the infant seats by 4-6 months, that is why we opted for the Safeseat this time around. The negetive is that it's heavy now, but we just leave the seat in the car and take dd in and out of it and it's more expensive than the other infant seats. DD is almost out of this seat, she's 29 inches long and 22 lbs, the replacement seat will probably be a Britax Marathon or Graco Comfortsport.

for an infant seat, i would go for a graco safeseat, the fact that it goes to 30lbs is extremely helpful, alot of babys will bulk up fast but once they crawl loose it again. And its no fun putting a 2mth old into a convertible seat when its the middle of a freezing winter and they are tiny but fat ds was 21lbs at 2.5mths old, so we could no longer use his infant seat....... and now at 2yrs old, hes only 21 lbs still.

We have two Evenflo Triumph 5 carseats and just recently purchased a Sunshine Kids Radian 65 for my 4 year old who has outgrown his Evenflo.

I love my Triumph carseats - they are easy to use (at least I think so), roomy, fairly inexpensive, and have been rated very well by Consumer Reports in the past. The new Triumph Advance LX goes up to 50 lbs forward facing (35 rear facing - the highest on the market) and runs anywhere from $130 to $190 I think, depending on which model you buy. If I had been buying for a baby instead of a 4 year old, I would have purchased the Triumph Advance without a second thought.

We have only had the Radian 65 for a few weeks, but I like what I have seen so far. The biggest negative is that the straps are difficult to loosen and tighten (especially considering how easy they are to adjust in the Triumph 5), but on the plus side, my son says it's very comfortable. I also like the fact that it will keep him in a 5 point harness up to 65 pounds, is steel reinforced, and has performed very well on safety tests (although Consumer Reports has never rated it). It was $200 compared to the $260 the Britax Marathon would have cost us and my son sits in it comfortably compared to the Marathon which didn't have enough room for him in the shoulder area. It also folds and is narrower than most carseats (they say you can fit three across the back seat of a car).

We got a Graco Metro lite Travel system. Loved it but my 4 1/2 month-old has already outgrown the car seat. Just last week we purchased the Brittax Marathon convertible car seat.

Both car seats were pricey but probably the biggest splurge for baby so far. Even though the car seat that came with the travel system is outgrown we will get much use from the stroller. I looked at many, many strollers and love it's performance so far. I also recommend just looking in the stores to see what you like and what you get for the money. We actually purchased both on-line after shopping the stores. In both instances I founds colors I love that were not in the stores.

Good Luck!

I used for both my mine the Graco infant seat and loved it. Roomy, nice color selection, no mechanic issues, EASY TO USE. Graco SnugRide Infant Car Seat - Emerson - Graco - Babies "R" Us

I also purchased the Graco Car Seat that goes from 5-100 Pounds. Graco Norway Cargo Booster - Graco - Babies "R" Us

I just couldn't see to keep wasting money on infant, then toddler then booster seats. I originally purchased the Cosco Alpha something, but the straps twised horribilty so stay away from that one. The kids dad has an Evenflo seat for Thom Evenflo Titan Deluxe Convertible Car Seat - Larson - Evenflo - Babies "R" Us and the Turbo Booster for Kelsey Graco TurboBooster Youth Booster - Kayla - Graco - Babies "R" Us in his truck, and they seem to work really nicely too. We all went together when we had to get new seat for his truck when it's his time to take the kids. I didn't want to keep taking the seats in and out of my car.

Hope that helps a bit!!!

I love Graco's SnugRide infant car seats that are quite comfortable and its elasticity makes an infant feel comfortable while riding a car.

We loved our Graco SafeSeat!! It's much roomier (especially wider) than all the others we looked at, or have used before. DD outgrew her Evenflo at about 5 months. We JUST moved DS out of his SafeSeat last week at 11 1/2 months. He could probably go longer in it but he's been resisting more lately and the straps just aren't long enough for getting a super wiggly baby in. Once he's in he's fine though. I definitely recommend it.
