Personally the entire nursery was useless for me. We rushed and struggled to get the nursery in tip top beautiful shape and our first never used it til he was well over one. There is no need to stress about having a nursery.

Another thing is a changing table. I had one and i never walked to it to do the changes. It was in the nursery and i almost always did changing in the living room. I ended up just getting a big cushy changing table pad and that's even what i use now for my daycare infants. I put it on the floor and change them right there.

By far the diaper Genie...I hated it...It was SUCH a hassle, I gave up and just used the bags and tied them myself When they were gone a grocery bag worked just as well.

The changing table...We never used it, I preferred the floor or the couch.

A wipe warmer....I got one and returned it...better to teach them at a young age life isn't all about warm tushies (I'm being sarcastic here for those of you about to jump on that comment...I DID warm up the wipes but between my hands, not in a warmer )

Hm! Let me see, there was the baby bath. The water cooled so quickly what was the point. I also never felt like I could get DD clean in that tiny thing. It was easier for me to get in the tub with my DD on my lap and wash her that way. I also found pacifiers and teethers useless for us. My DD never took to them.
I hated store bought cloth diapers. Very non absorbent. Diaper service quality was 100% better. Finding quality diaper wraps that fit and lasted was a pain too. Then there was bottles! Bought a bunch of Avent bottles and they were too fast for my DD to suck on. It just all ran down her chin and neck so we had to invest in a different type of bottle. And what is up with those tiny receiving blankets? They were too small to wrap a baby in. I suppose you could use them as burp clothes but diapers work better.
Wish I had all the money we wasted on stuff! I thought we were pretty conservative and I researched almost everything we bought. I guess experience is the best teacher! I also think some of the stuff works for some mothers and babies and not others. We love our wipe warmer for holding wipes and keeping them moist (not warming) and I also love my diaper genie. ;>

The thing that suprised me the most that we didn't use much was our stroller. We got a big fancy one that had all the options. It was top priority on our list of must haves. I think we might have used it a total of 3 times and that was usually for holding our stuff and not the baby. Usually we just held our son when we went anywhere, there was always enough people around that holding him was not a problem. Now we loved the little collapsible stroller you can get for about $10. We wore that one out.

Depends on the child..Bradley loved his swing and johnny jump up and hated the bouncer... Shane hated the swing but also loved the johnny jump up and loved the bouncer. Sammy didn't like the swing too much or the bouncer but loved the jumperoo. They are all different. I bought most everything for
Shane and Sammy used so I didn't put out tons of money.
