As a new mom I ran out to buy ever gadget and gizmo only to waste my money when my boys didn't use them. Since you only get use of some items for a few months you are better off finding them gently used elsewhere.
My boys didn't like the jumperoo, bumbo, bassinet, leapfrog seat that doesn't bounce, mobiles that are too loud, snugli, double stroller.

I got sun shades from WalMart that stick to your window and are supposed to darken when the sun shines on them. They didn't stick, darken, or anything else they were supposed to do. But the box and tags were thrown away, so they're somewhere in my floorboard right now!

Bibs that don't absorb. Even tho they have pockets at the bottom. Doesn't help me w/dd, tho maybe when she's older and a bit less messy.

Front carrier. She hated it, and it was too much of a hassle to put her in and take her out when I didn't have two more hands to help out--and I never had those two more hands when I needed them, like at the grocery store or mall!

DS HATED the Johnny Jump Up (we didn't have a jumparoo...) BUT I found the bumboo to be very helpful when living in a small space and having to feed him baby food. I have some of the best pictures of him in it and he really didn't seem to mind it. He also hated the swing. We didn't have one for very long because it took up so much space and he just wouldn't sit in it.

Diaper genie! What a hassle. I never could get the refill bags in it right. And it was nasty to clean out! Nope! Good old plastic bags from the grocery store works way better and way more affordable! I had my mom, mil and us collecting them us.

All the sleep positioners that are available at BRU. The rectangular cushions for positioning the babies head in carseats - total waste.

Had the front carrier(Baby Bjorn) and it helped us a lot while flying. It was a bit of a hassle while putting, but once the baby was put it was a breeze - however, I must add that it my DH who used it and not me.

I would have to say Shopping cart seat protectors. The dang thing always came off. My son loved his swing and bouncer. When I was pregnant I got in a HUGE fight with a diaper genie. The bags were everywhere! Needless to say the diaper genie won and I threw it out!
