I used to have one and I really did like it. It comes out just right every time. The only downside to it is that it depletes your ice very quickly. This was not a big deal when dh and I both worked and were gone all day, but now that we have kids and we are home a lot more, it is a pain to wait all day for your icemaker to fill back up. And we drink tea very quickly, so we can easily go through a pitcher in a day. If we wanted to make another pitcher, we would have to wait until the next morning to have enough ice.

The way I make it now is the easiest way in the world. Just put your tea bags in your pitcher and fill it up with water before you go to bed. Put it in the fridge and in the morning the tea will be ready to drink and nice and cold.

I have always had an iced tea maker. Mine is the good ole Mr. Coffee brand. I use it every other day, sometimes every day when my hubby is home and working outside. I love it. I do not use ice with mine, you can just use cold water and it will work just the same except it obviously will need to chill in the refridgerator. I make sweet tea but it isn't crazy sweet (like chickfila or mcdonalds). Mine has a home on the counter beside the coffee maker. I don't store my tea in the brewing pitcher, I brew 3 family sizetea bags and fill up the gallon pitcher.
