I recently broke down and got a photo printer. Even sending my pics to Walgreens via the web just took too much time.

Anyway, I got the HP Photosmart because it is mac compatible, and prints 4x6 and 5x7. In reading reviews on Amazon, I found out it did a few other cool things. BUT, as I am no techie, I am still second-guessing this purchase - do any of you own one you really, really like? Anyone have this one? Any hints in doing this? We tried to print photos at home on our Epson, which worked great at first, but then just started doing photos horribly.

Hints and opinions?

I have a photosmart 8150 that I really like. It doesn't seem to use up a ton of ink like some other ones I've used. I like that I can insert my memory card and print just from that without turning on my computer. I think its a good printer, but thats just my opinion.

I have an Epson PictureMate and I love it. It is limited to 4x6 prints, but I figured if I want to enlarge a photo I can go to Walmart or Walgreens. The print pack is set up so that the ink cartridge has enough ink in it that it will do all of the blank photo sheets. I think there is a guarantee that if the ink runs out before the paper you can send the poorly printed photos in to Epson and they will reimburse you. The printer itself is quite small and will take several different memory cards. Some of the most recent models even have a CD burner in them so you can just save your photos on a CD and not have to use a computer. I think you can even purchase a battery pack for it so you can use it out at a family picnic with no electricity. They seem to be reasonably priced.

Again, I love mine!!!
