I'm a huge Carol Burnett fan. Her shows are the one thing that have always made me laugh (especially, of course, the Scarlett O'Hara skit). A lot of the DVDs on the market are junk - poor quality recorded off TVLand (which I'm not in a position to do on my own and don't want poor quality).

So...there's an offer on TV of getting the series starting at $9.95 for the first one, plus $3.95 S&H. Then, every 4-6 wks they send you 2 more videos (I think there are 9 in all) for $19.95 each plus S&H, so it can add up.

Here's the problem. For this, they, of course want to dip into your account to take the payments out upon shipment. I'm OK doing this for CERTAIN reputable companies, but the problem is the company that has this contract is Guthy-Renker. They have a TERRIBLE reputation, and I've tried them before and can attest to their horrible customer service. Fortunately, I never lost money with them. Their biggest problem is taking out more than they should, or continuing to charge after contracts or shipments have been completed. And people seem to not get satisfaction or timely service from them. Also, the scary thing is, when you try to order this, the form shows the total $150 charge, rather than the smaller charges.

Have any of you had dealings with these guys? Any ideas?

I haven't had any dealings with them. But I myself wouldn't do it. I usually have a minimal amount in the checking account, and couldn't afford for them to take more out of my account than I had counted on.
I thought it was funny that I came upon this post, because I have been wanting to watch some Carol Burnett too. I was thinking of looking to see if they had any on Netflix. I think I would rather rent them. I will let you know what I find.

Well that stinks. All they have is a couple of dvds that are basically the cast reminising over past episodes. And one biography. I don't see why they couldn't carry a couple of regular episodes. Does it ever come on tvland? I would be happy watching it on there once in awhile.

Some say it's been on TVLand, but I've never caught it. In fact, there are some selling on Amazon, but when you check the reviews, they all say they are either the one you are talking about or they are recorded off TVLand and so the quality is not good. And, according to one of her fan websites, this one is the only one sanctioned by her. It's just that Gunthy Renker is the bad guy.

Well that stinks. In this case, if I really wanted the whole series, I might wait until I had the 150 and see if they would let you pay the whole amount all at once, and then send them all to you.
