My birthday is coming up and dh would like to buy me a mp3 player. I want it to listen to audiobooks downloads from the library while I workout or sew. So I need one that has a bookmark function, or whatever it is called where you can stop it and start it up again where you left off. Dh had one several years ago, but if you stopped in the middle of something you had to fastword to where you left off. It was a huge pain to use for anything other than music. We've looked online for players and there are so many I just don't know what would be a good one. Anyone have a suggestion, please? And the cheaper, the better, of course!

Thanks!

If you don't need a display, the Ipod shuffle is great. I have one and love it. It is small and has a clip on the back. It only plays music, not videos.

I have an iPod Nano ($149 for the 4GB version) and I really like it. I know that when I listen to longer podcasts, leave them, and come back it starts where I left off. I'm not sure if that's a "bookmark" function like you describe, but it works for me.

That's the feature I'm looking for. I'll check those out. Thanks!

No, I don't need a display. It'll be just for audiobooks. If I buy one with video capability, I'll have to fight the kids for it. Thanks!

I love Apple Ipod and am really a snob when it comes to MP3 players I had a Creative Zen now $69 which is actually comparable to an Ipod and had great reviews but I wanted a Nano $150 so bad I could taste it so I sold mine to my co-worker she loves it, she just wanted an affordable MP3 player. My Nano was stolen 1month after I bought it but I loved it while I had it I now have the Shuffle now $49 which I LOVEEEEEEEE!! and a Ipod Classic $250 (the big one) I rarely use that one though mostly stays in the car as my c.d. player. They all play audiobooks and podcasts but $$ wise I would look at the Shuffle or Creative Zen

I'm not sure about the bookmarks. But I have a Creative Zen which I love along with a Zen Stone Plus (very small), and my son has the Zen stone. I just love the Creative Labs ones, never had any problems with them.

My iPod Nano is a refurbished one that I purchased online at the Apple Store. Their inventory changes, so check frequently. I did a lot of research before I bought it and learned that there are many third party sellers of refurbished Apple products, but it's best to buy from the source. Some great values to be had.

I have had no problems with mine. It looks like new, and the shipping was free. If you buy a "previous generation" model, you can save even more. Go to the Apple Store website and look for the Special Deals links on the lower left. Or, you can try this link:

The Apple Store (U.S.)

FYI: You can also get Free Downloads of podcasts for your iPod from iTunes
