Did some shopping at Aldi yesterday and figured I'd try some new things (they have a double money-back guarantee after all!). I already shop there for a portion of my groceries, but I'm branching out and trying new things. I thought I'd post about each item (both things we're just trying and what we always get) as we eat them. **listed foods/items are Aldi brand unless otherwise specified**

Frozen fruit bars (4 pk, $2) Caribbean flavor (mixed tropical fruits)
--DH loved them. Said they were as good, if not better, than Edy's fruit bars. They also have strawberry, lime pinapple, and pina colada varieties. Bonus? They only have 100 calories!

chip dip (16 oz, $1)
--comparable to Heluva Good for me (and I'm pretty picky with my chip dip)

sour cream (16 oz, $1)
--comparable to any other sour cream on the market (they all taste the same)

gallon zip bags (40 ct)
--I really like these. they aren't freezer bags (though they have freezer bags available)

Does anyone else want to add reviews of foods/items they get at Aldi? I know their stock varies from store to store, but I think their independent brand is available at every store.

I've liked everything so far except for... this frozen cheese strudel thing with raisins in it. I tried a few bites and chucked it.

We ALWAYS buy:

~the breadsticks and cheese (snack item, has about 8 tiny bread sticks and a small section of cheese that you dip the bread sticks into)

~cream of chicken soup

~grape jelly

~peanut butter

~pasta (spaghetti, egg noodles, macaroni, rice)

~spaghetti sauce

~milk (really cheap compared to other stores)

~cinnamon toast crunch (not the name brand, but EXACTLY like it)

~pretzels

~cinnamon rolls that come in a tube (really good)

~frozen pizza

~all canned vegetables

~all canned fruits

I buy:

- saltine-like crackers
- Ritz-like crackers
- oyster crackers
*** frozen juices. The apple and grape varieties are only $0.89.
- chocolate and vanilla frosting

I have liked everything so far except their oatmeal. It is like mush. Some products are VERY high in sodium-cream of soups. And their spaghetti sauce-the mama cozzi kind-is made with high fructose corn syrup. So beware of what you are buying!
