I am wanting to buy a easel for the kids to use this summer. They LOVE to paint, but are a little messy with it. I am looking for something easy to haul outside so that they can paint under our covered car port-it is cemented too. That way if they have a spill, we can just hose it off. I would like one that has two sides so two kids can paint at the same time. I do not care if it has a chaulk board or dry erase board on either side and I do not care if it is plastic or wood. Just something durable that can be moved easily. TIA!!
Oops! Forgot to mention that I want it to be a standing easel not one that lays down on a table or something.

I don't recommend them. Thy take up a LOT of space (storage) and the paint runs down the picture if they use too much paint. Invest in extra paper and paints and maybe some sidewalk chalk!
Kids LOVE to paint, and it is great outside for the reasons you mentioned, but I would stick to the sidewalk or driveway!

This is the one we have (it is chalk board on one side/magnetic dry-erase the other side). I wouldn't say it is like super light weight but it is easy to move. The main thing I like about it is that it has the tray in the middle that can hold tons of stuff! It also has a clip on each side at the top to attach paper for painting.......

We have a wooden easel that my neices use (my kids used it when they were small). It's easy to move IMO and it folds (or flattens...like a ladder would), so I just fold it, and lean it against the wall in our garage, so it's easy to store for me. I wipe it down after each use.

I've had several easels before, wooden and the plastic step 2 one. Ikea has a cheap ($19) wooden one that folds but I'm not sure if it's 2 sided or not? However it's works just the same as the more expensive PBK one.

I recommend the Ikea easel, as mentioned above it folds and the price is right. Who cares if it gets covered in paint when it only costs $19? The ones I have seen are not 2 sided, but you could probably just clip a paper to the other side so 2 kids could use it.

I have to agree with mommmmy, don't. I would especially avoid an easel if your kids tend to be messy while painting.

Instead, invest in a roll of butcher paper or newsprint (free at the local newspaper printer) or a large drop cloth. Spread this out when he kids want to paint and let them have at it with their paper flat on the ground.

We have the STEP 2 easel and don't use. I have a huge roll of packaging paper (probably butcher paper) The movers used it to pack my parents house.. And I lay it out and let him go....

My son has one from Ikea. One side is a chalkboard, the other is a white board. It can carry rolls of paper if your child was going to paint/draw. The paper is held onto the easel with a sturdy stick. Those rolls can be bought at Ikea or any other place that sells big rolls of paper.
