We use the Banana Boat SPF 50 Sport Performance spray and I think it works GREAT!!! I spray it on my kids atleast 30 minutes before we go to the pool and we haven't had the slight bit of pinkness. I've used it atleast 5 times this season. I do, however, spray a bit on my hands and spread it on their faces. Maybe you should contact the manufacturer. It could have been a bad batch.

We used the spray when we went to Disney and it worked great, no burns. I just sprayed it directly on my DD. I hate that your DD got burned! Slather her up with some cool lotion, that always feels good.

Oh, you don't want to put lotion on it. The emollients will hold the heat in, like a thermal wrap. Aloe Vera is great, as long as you don't get a sticky kind. And some ibuprofen for inflammation.

I thought about it being a bad batch. I'm not really willing to chance it again and won't be buying it again. Thanks for letting me know yours worked.

Did you give it a chance to soak in before going outside? I *try* to get my kids to wait 15-20 min after applying before going out in the sun. Sometimes the kids are in a hurry or we are out somewhere & need to apply sunscreen but won't be able to give it soak in time.

Also, did you shake it up? I think you are supposed to (at least I do). One thing I have noticed is that it says 'tear free' but that is not always true w/our kids? If a little gets into their eyes it stings.

That's what I was going to ask as well. I personally wouldn't use it again either. We had a bad (in my mind at least) experience with Coppertone for kids. My kids didn't burn but after they came inside, their skin was all pinkish and I was afraid they had burned. The pink went away after they'd been inside awhile and so I thought maybe it was just them being in the heat that made them look pink. But after it happened the next time, I have never used that brand again because I am afraid it's not protecting them like it should be.

My favorite is Hawaiian Tropic Baby Faces. My kids have never burned or even been pink after using it. How can I find out what it's health and sun exposure rating is?

Thanks for your suggestions but I have taken all the necessary precautions. My kids spend hours and hours on the boat and have never had a sunburn. For it to happen twice, there must've been something wrong with it.

I've fixed the situation, I bought Blue Lizard today and we coated up with that. It was much less runny and I felt good knowing it wasn't full of nasty chemicals.

I'm with you. You just know when there is something wrong with the sunblock. My arms are tanned and I my shoulders are burnt. I didn't even get in the water.

I'm sorry, and I know the feeling. After that Skin deep sunscreen article, I dumped all ds's Water Babies sunscreen because it (supposedly) has a known carcinogen in it. I got the California Baby sunscreen that cost $16.95 (0n sale!) a tube that would not even last us one week. Ds is white-white with white cornsilk like hair and burns after less than 5 mins. in the sun.

The California Baby was horrible, took forever to get on him, made him look like a piece of chalk, and on top of that the 30+ he had on for a little over an hour caused him to get a sunburn! He's 6.5 and never ever had a sunburn

Fortunately I had another opened bottle of Water Babies and we've been using that until I can find something 'better'. I am definitely going to give feedback on that California Baby stuff, which incidently I could not find an expiration date on either.

I'm so sorry about your daughter. That is just horrible.
