Does anyone buy or drink soy milk?

The dr. told me I needed to get as much soy in my diet as possible, because of my hot flashes.

I though about buying the silk brand, but not sure if I will like the taste of any of it! Of course it will probably be the Chocolate soy milk at that!

What is the best brand, and what flavor?

My doctors and my sister's doctor have told us that soy is bad for women, and that more recent studies show it is not effective for menopausal women. When I did try them, I found the Silk brand to be best, but did not pursue it because it had so much SUGAR in it, and I have PCOS and diabetes in the family, I drink almond milk, for the most part. I'd double-check on that soy thing with your doctor & make sure he's up to date on the most recent studies.

Edited to add: My brother recently had prostate cancer, and soy milk is very good for men for that. I was talking to him about it recently & he said that the fridge is getting crowded with his soy milk because his wife & daughters can't drink it because it is bad for women. His doctor said the same thing.

It's so confusing. My sister is 54. Her doctor (a top doctor around here - I WISH I could see him but he's not accepting new patients) - just took her off of calcium as calcium is showing increased heart attacks in older women. He would rather her risk osteoporosis than heart disease, although he still has her taking vitamin D. Whereas my doctor has me on 15 mg of calcium/day (I'm 44) and I notice that if I stop taking it, my neck/back go out and I'm in a lot of pain. So, which advice do we follow? It's getting really hard.

I drink low fat vanilla soy milk and love it. ~ Just one cup a day.

I usually buy what ever is one sale.

there are other ways to get soy. You can use some soy flour in baking, or eat soy nuts, or veggies burgers (ie: Gardenburgers), hot dogs, etc.

my mom was drinking soy milk for her menopause... it gave her really bad gas and tummy upset, so she stopped taking it

i have read some things about soy, and I am not too sure that all the benefits are there that they say. Lots of the soy beans are GM and heavilly sprayed with pesticides...

I think Soy Milk works great and swear by it! My Mom's dr. told her that there is something in it that mimics estrogen and it helps even out your cycle (for her menopause). I can totally tell when I need it. I drank it a lot while I was pregnant and it helped me sleep better when my hormones were out of wack. Can't hurt I'd say try it and see for yourself. I'd try the vanilla Silk. Good luck

Silk Soy milk is organic so there are no pesticide problems. I use soy milk for my ds because he is allergic to cows milk. I've never tasted it. Sorry....

I have bought the Walmart brand of Soy Milk, vanilla and chocolate and I have bought the Target brand of Soy Milk and I have bought Silk. I think they all taste great. I love the vanilla soy, but the sugars are alot! So I have to limit myself.
