We have a water softener so we don't have much trouble with soap scum or lime deposits. However, when we didn't have a water softener, I found the best way to deal with the problem is to avoid it.

If you use a soap that 'rinses clean', then not only does it rince easily off your body, but it also rinses easily off he tub/shower surround. The recommendation - use Zest.

After I read this, I grabbed my Mr. Clean Eraser and tried it on my shower. Wow! I'll be using that from now on.

This is similar to what I do...I think the amt of soap scum depends on the type of water you have, the soap you use etc I don't have too much soap scum, but I use the MCE first (works esp good in textured areas) and then I use a sponge with liquid Spic/Span or Mr Clean...whatever I have around.

A friend of mine uses lemon oil on her shower doors and swears it's eliminated scrubbing for her, in terms of soap scum. I've never tried that myself though.

We've been using soft scrub on our shower and bathtub....we too clean the shower before we actually take a shower. I had trouble following some of the posts here, but was there something you all used on a daily basis to prevent having to actually clean the tub? Also the vinegar solution....the oil to make it smell good...where do you get that?
